On January 26, and February 2, Christine Gironda and I were in Menands to meet with the members and to meet their new Director, Maureen Hull. After meeting with the members we met with Maureen and the First and Second Level Manager, Paul DiLello to discuss many issues facing the office. Objectives, PDPP's, and too few people on line were some of the topics discussed. The GBS organization, is not much different than the CSSC with many of the daily issues.
On February 4, I attended the NY/NE Regional Work and Family meeting. The Committee is pleased to announce after much work, as of January 2010 eligible members can request reimbursement (up to $40.00 a month) for the monthly fee for a personal emergency response system. This reimbursement applies to an immediate family member as per our Contract. For more information and an application, please visit the Work and Family website at WWW.REGIONALWFRC.COM.
On February 9, Maria Vooris and I were on a conference call set up by the International Union with all of the Locals who represent members working for Supermedia.com, the former Idearc. Locals representing members in California (AT&T) and Canada shared much information. Forums like this are very informative and important in handling these major corporations. We will continue to meet throughout the year.
Much conversation since the New Year began has centered on an offer to be given by Verizon to all employees. We know that there have been high level discussions with the Unions and Verizon, but nothing officially has happened. Once this Local receives any official notification we will put the information out via tape at 1-888-458-1501 or through your Assistant Business Managers.
